Originator of ideas and name for sagaan, spiritual father
Joachim Heinz had the right idea back in 2004 when he discovered a unique tea made from rhododendron, which is also used in Siberian and Tibetan medicine for its stimulating properties and its ability to invigorate bodily processes, and he was looking for suitable packaging for sale in Europe. He chose birch bark tins, which are traditionally processed into containers as a regional natural material in the Baikal Lake area, where the tea Sagaan Dailya also originates, after which sagaan named. The word comes from Buryat, an indigenous language of a Mongolian ethnic group in Eastern Siberia and means something like „White Wing“.
Joachim Heinz eventually approached the social village project Istok with his idea and ordered the birch tins. Everyone was to win: Joachim, who needed the tins, the Istok Disability Project, who desperately needed money, and the customers in Europe who can buy these beautiful vessels.
Joachim put a great deal of enthusiasm, pioneering spirit and aesthetic sensibility into the young project before handing over the operational business in 2005 Tim Mergelsberg as a patron, advisor and often in a decisive position with the right idea, Joachim continued to accompany sagaan from Siberia.
Joachim will of course continue his consultations for companies and individuals, setting standards that resonate far beyond Russia. In doing so, he demonstrates at least as much insight into human nature and a flair for unique, novel ideas, just as he once discovered Sagaan Dailya and birch bark with his pioneering spirit and keen sense for the beautiful and valuable.
