In our courses, we'll show you how to make useful items from the unassuming material that wraps the birch tree, which not only look beautifully golden and warm but also feel soft and supple in your hand.

sagaan has developed a programme to playfully approach the tactile-sensory experience of unique birch bark. Through direct contact with the unique natural material, workshop participants gain an impressive understanding of nature's value and its need for protection. Our many years of experience with workshops, experiential lectures and other events related to birch bark show that this unique, exotic, completely natural material, which feels so soft and, in addition to its golden radiance, also carries the scent of the taiga, captivates visitors of all ages: from young to old, from children's birthday parties and museum education events to company events – working with birch bark will remain long in the memory of all participants. Our concept includes offering different levels of difficulty for processing birch bark, allowing participants to create smaller items from birch bark, such as coasters, bracelets, and emblems. Those with more leisure time and skill can create their own tin for storing food from pre-made blanks. Our experience shows that with this work, we offer very successful, intergenerational, and identity-building opportunities. sagaan offers the unique opportunity in Europe to combine sensory experiences of the white-gold bark with well-founded background knowledge and pedagogical work. At the end of the exciting immersion into the customs of the ancient peoples of Scandinavia and Siberia, each participant can take home their own handmade unique item.
