The birch grows into a piece of furniture.
To complete his apprenticeship with a very special master craftsman’s piece, the young carpenter Cedric Lomeier combined the „natural veneer“ of birch bark with modern construction methods.
The result is a simple bar counter:
Inspired by the natural form of a tree, the column rises from a heavy concrete block and displays the abstracted wood grain of the trunk on its upper surface.
The peeling bark hints at the classic interior of the master's piece as a refined grip solution.
Two discreetly adjustable shelves with specially made supports create space for an extensive range of glasses and spirits. A hand-dovetailed drawer, traditional but running discreetly on wooden runners, offers storage for various accessories.
Conclusively and thoughtfully, the piece of furniture showcases its natural materials without letting itself become too prominent. The item was also awarded a prize within the scope of „Gute Form“, the design award for journeyman's pieces.
Since 2015, Cedric Lomeier has been indulging his creative drive in his architecture studies at the Technical University of Munich, but welcomes follow-up and ad-hoc requests: info@lomeier.de
